MY DESIRE TO BECOME A MOTHER KEPT ME GOING

Posted by Edita Malenko on

Starting a business is never an easy decision, especially when it comes to a business that caters to a niche market. But for me, it was a no-brainer. I have always loved dogs and wanted to do something related to them. Ever since I was a child, I have had an affinity for these furry companions, and as I grew older, that love only deepened. I started volunteering at local animal shelters and rescues, which only strengthened my passion for helping dogs. I knew that I wanted to turn this passion into something more, and that's when the idea for my business started to take shape. (Please read my blog post, 3 minutes reading).

Another driving force behind my decision to start this business was the desire to include my widowed, retired, active mom in the project. My parents raised me to love and respect animals and especially dogs, my mom is a big dog lover. She has been an invaluable asset to my business, helping me with sewing. It's been a wonderful way for us to spend time together while doing something we both love.

The third reason behind my decision to start this business is a bit more personal and probably the biggest driver. No story about starting a business would be complete without a few hurdles along the way. I had struggled with fertility issues for a long time, and it wasn't until I had almost given up hope that I finally found success on the road to motherhood. My husband and I had been trying to have a baby for 13 years without success. We went through the emotional rollercoaster of infertility treatments, which left me feeling defeated and hopeless. During all that time I found comfort in spending time with my West Highland Terrier dog Cosmos. Thanks to science, alternative medicine, my determination and hope, this year we welcomed our beautiful baby girl Matilda. I though this day would never come! (If you or somebody you know are going through fertility issues, please send me a message, I’ll be more than happy to share what I think helped me to become pregnant).

When my beautiful baby girl was born, it felt like a miracle, and it only strengthened my resolve to make this business a success.

These three things were the driving forces behind my decision to start a business for dog lovers and babies.

The idea behind my business is simple: to create high-quality, organic cotton, dog-themed baby products that appeal to both dog lovers’ baby parents and eco conscious customers. But what sets us apart is that we offer personalized baby gifts featuring our customers' own photos of their dogs (and cats). This allows us to create truly unique and special items that celebrate the bond between dogs and their human families, it’s a baby keepsake that you will treasure forever. We have had customers send us photos of their dogs in everything from cute costumes to action shots, and we love the challenge of turning those images into one-of-a-kind gifts.

Our product line includes a range of baby blankets, loveys, clothes, and bibs, all featuring adorable dog-themed designs.

We also offer resources for new parents on how to introduce their dogs to their new baby, and how to keep both their baby and their dog safe.

Starting a business is never easy, but when you have a passion for what you're doing, it makes the journey all the more rewarding. I am grateful for the support of my mom, my husband, and my beautiful daughter, who inspire me every day to create products that celebrate the love between dogs and their human families. And I am especially grateful for the dogs in my life (Simute, Cosmos and Kopa), who have taught me the importance of unconditional love and the power of following your dreams.
